Hands-On at the 2011 Challenge


    The STEM Connections Project identifies product and resource materials that will deliver learning in Science (Next Generation Standards), Technology (ITEEA Technological Literacy), Engineering and Math (Common Core State Standards, CCSS) and Technical Literacy (CCSS)


    Mechanical Kits Ltd. is currently working with the Boy Scouts of America to provide activities, support materials and kits for a proposed Hydraulics & Pneumatics Merit Badge. The Experimental Program in Spring 2014 provided an overwhelming "YES!" The submission is now underway and may lead to the proposal being accepted in 2016-17.

  • For STEM projects, the new kit, a hydraulically driven catapult called the Hydrapult Kit and the Investigating Levers and Fluidics Rig can be used to explore the physics of syringe fluidics and the operation of levers and forces. The free downloadable student notes use appropriate STEM standards.

  • In order to reduce the amount of paper product we use, instructions for the kits are now available as downloadable files on our website. The files are PowerPoint presentations. If, however, you specifically require printed paper instructions please email:

Fluid Power Kits in the Classroom

Mechanical Kits Ltd. has developed kits for teachers and students to use in the classroom. These enable students to engage in hands-on learning by building a device that moves pneumatically and hydraulically, and by doing so, understand important mechanical and fluid power concepts.

Classroom Lifter Model

A classroom kit comes pre-cut and drilled - all that is required to construct it are a pair of scissors and a small amount of wood glue. Downloadable instructions are available - follow the link below.
